August recess scraped but progress is elusive

Politico is out with a great breakdown of how Republicans in the House, Senate and White House are trying to get the wheels moving again after spinning them on healthcare for six months.

At the same time, some are losing patience and looking for a scapegoat.

"I don't even pay any attention to what is going on with the administration because I don't care. They're a distraction. The family is a distraction, the president is a distraction," complained Rep. Mike Simpson (R-Idaho). "At first, it was 'Well yeah, this is the guy we elected. He'll learn, he'll learn.' And you just don't see that happening."

That's a pretty amazing statement from a member of his party. It's also a bit rich given that Trump has entirely stayed out of healthcare and pretty much said he will sign anything that hits his desk.

Some frustration is setting in now and there is going to be a mountain of pressure to craft a good budget and tax reform but at the same time, what's 'good' someone who wants jobs and someone who wants to cut the deficit is a completely different thing.
